I want to ask WordPress.org why I’m starting to get spammy ads for ‘important information about xyz plugin’ or for paid enhancements to installed widgets. I mean, I thought the whole objective of having a hosted (i.e., paid-for by moi) website was to be free of commercial intrusions. It seems that some of the independent developers, in addition to asking for donations (which I’ve done), are becoming more persistent. And some useful widgets, like the TED embed code converter, have become unworkable because WordPress changed their codex or some arcane tech-thingy.
