I’m taking a break today. Here is a bit of humour to brighten your day.
March 29th is my baby boy’s birthday. He’s 42. So much life has happened since then. Good, bad, ugly, beautiful. Yet, I can still recall with razor clarity that he was born at 12:40 p.m. (because I was hungry and they wouldn’t let me eat anything but ice chips and jello). It was bitterly cold but brilliantly sunny outside, with that pale high blue sky signaling the cusp of spring and the wind has blown the air clear of clouds. He was my second child. I remembered only too clearly 18 months before when his sister was born, and all of the prodding and poking various people in white uniforms and lab coats did when all I wanted to do was sleep and forget…
Good day, Gentle Readers. Can you believe that it’s the end of March already? Easter is just around the corner but the wind still howls in the fireplace chimney in my office (which I still have not cleaned/purged yet for Spring). It’s been another day of sewing like a madwoman and studying for my exam tonight. Thank goodness for my one hour massage with Wendy the Wonderful, Lady of the Magic Hands. She says that I have to learn to breath more efficiently and release my breath from my collarbones instead of my belly. Imagine, at my age, being told that I have been breathing incorrectly all of my life. I’m not inflating my lungs properly (I’ve always been a breath-holder and deep sigher)…

After I divert myself with a laugh, however, it’s back to real life. I have the curves but there’s way too much ‘stuff’ layered on top, so it’s back to exercising to tighten everything up. Isn’t it ironic that back in the day when folks had to walk everywhere and there wasn’t enough money for the basics, never mind treats, advertisers appealed to women’s desire to be plump and more attractive to men. Check out the leering bozos on the left. My step count was way down today because…

The sun is up longer every day. It’s invigorating, despite the continuing deep freeze. Looking forward to summer, sitting on the deck under the pergola while the birds go mad at the feeders. Here’s a refreshing drink to make – the recipe is from the FitBit blog. I’d been skeptical about cucumbers in a beverage but they do add a cooling taste. I’d add a bit of honey perhaps. Cucumber-Lemon Mint Water Infusion of Joy 1-2 liters of water, depending on how strong you want it to taste 1 small cucumber or half large cucumber 1 lemon or lime A handful of fresh mint leaves (approximately 10-13) Grab a large pitcher. Slice up a cucumber, cut your citrus into wedges and throw in a…
