Oh my goodness, what a wonderful two weeks it has been. What with family and food and wine and writing like a fiend, I feel that 2014 ended well and that the New Year is off to a great start. Honestly, I didn’t mind not blogging every day, either, although I kept having twinges of inspiration and resisting by baking something.

I’ve reviewed last year’s entries for the first week of January – get fitter, lose weight, put more words on paper. I did all that. I confess I gained back five pounds (thank you, Italy) but I churned out several hundred (I’ll count them later) blog posts and with my trusty FitBit, I’ve charged into the world of daily walks (no matter what the weather), I’m fitter and making fiction every day.

I’ve learned that I don’t ‘do’ deprivation very well – I get cranky and tend to eat out of spite. I like my salty snacks (ah, Chicago mix) and while I can pass on wine with dinner on weekdays, I will not do without on weekends.

So my goals this year are simple. I’m going to blog three times a week instead of every single day. Get back into daily tai chi practice.

Clear my mind (and my life) of stuff that doesn’t advance my goals or make me feel good.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Stop watching the litany of disaster known as the evening news. Finish more sewing projects just because I love clothes and want more to wear instead of buy. Have lunch with friends more often. Devour more books. Learn to like quinoa because it’s good for me.

I’m going to write more short stories for my hyacinthemillerbooks.com site and keep my fiction-fingers flexed.Finish editing my non-fiction book. Self-publish some of the material I have languishing on my hard drive. Write a monthly column about writing for the local newspaper. Build my writer’s platform. Record some podcasts and maybe YouTube videos. Get a new custom-built computer as a treat for publishing and putting myself ‘out there’.

I’m determined to up my daily step count and eat less butter and more veggies. Laugh more, love more, travel more. Keep it simple. That’s it. 2015, here I come!
