I know I’ve said I wasn’t wild about having a ‘common’ ailment, benign though it my vertigo was. But this new doll is a reason to celebrate ordinariness. The developer – a man named  Nicholay Lamm decided he’d had enough with the freakishly proportioned by 50-year-old Barbie and her ilk.  He took a series of measurements of an average 19-year-old American woman and came up with a lovely dark-haired representation of a genuine body. She does not have a wasp waist nor does she have shelf-like breasts and permanently deformed feet suited only for high heels. Lammily (okay, so there’s a bit of ego) is her name. The reaction to young children is wonderful to watch. Average. She is advertised as an average doll.…
