The weather in June and July was nothing to celebrate, but here we are at the beginning of October, picking apples, making jam – basically getting ready for what the Farmer’s Almanac predicts will be a crappy, cold winter – and the air conditioner runs all day. Last week on the deck, the thermostat registered 38 degrees. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not complaining. But the insects and animals are confused by the tropical temperatures.
