It’s raining nails right now – hard, slashing precipitation that makes the windows ping. Sounds like a mixture of water and ice. We’ve turned up the heat to fight the damp, but I’m aware that this is an FWP (First World Problem) so I’m going to stop kvetching. The David Suzuki Foundation, (he’s the self-styled millionaire spokesperson for everything environment) says that we should plant milkweed in our yards, gardens and balconies to support the regeneration of the Monarch butterfly population. I try to nurture a few plants amongst the taller rudbeckias in the back garden, but I’ve never seen butterfly caterpillar pods locally. For those times when you just have to know a statistic…check out Worldometer, for every important number you want to know about or didn’t think you needed to know. No matter how arcane it might be, this website displays a variety of statistics. World population and government expenditures whirr by so fast you could get vertigo. Other stats – land lost to soil erosion this year – are sobering. Check out public healthcare expenditures, military expenditures, books published, money spent on video-games, emails sent… Real time numbers, which is terrifying, especially when you watch the ticker for world population and money spent on weight loss treatment and obesity remedies. Now this sounds very tasty. From Slender Kitchen – Cheesy Bacon Cauliflower Soup. Of course, I’d swap out the turkey bacon (can’t stand the smell and it tastes like pink cardboard to me) and reduce the cheese and use a full-flavoured cheddar or a stronger kind such as Asiago. Well, no change on weigh-day. I knew it, although I’d hoped for different results. I have to admit that every evening last wek, I had wine with dinner. Sometimes two glasses. For some reason, I craved pasta so we had penne with alfredo sauce one night and crab meat quiche made with sauteed onions, four eggs and a cup of whipping cream another night and for leftover lunches the past two days. It all tasted so good. Luckily, Hub is as happy about my body as I am – it works and does what it should after all! Well, Friday is weigh-day. I’m not sure what the result may be. My clothes feel loose. The measurements that were taken at the beginning of my European Pattern Drafting course have changed – I’m down 4 centimeters. That’s a good thing. SO I have to redraw version 4 of my pants pattern draft. Yeah! Tomorrow is a day off from work so I’m going on a sewing binge. I have to reduce my fabric stash (last weekend, Fabricland had a 50% off member’s sale so I binged on suiting material).
