Ah, but the post-Christmas skies are still gloomy and the weather is, indeed, frightfully windy and cold. Instead of wishing for heat and sunlight, I’m watching YouTube videos in between copy editing (distraction, yes; inspiration, absolutely). There is so much talent out there, it’s mind-boggling.

Check out this version and see how many movies you recognize. Then watch a few more, including Gangnam Style mashups,  and get your mood lifted.

This mashup of vintage movie scenes with stars of days gone by is also a big winner for me. The tap dancing brings back so many great memories: black & white television, circle skirts, permanent waves (oh, the chemical smell of Toni hair products), saddle shoes and Bobbi socks, butter buns, French fries with gravy and cherry coke from National Bakery in St. Catharines, stuffing my bra with Kleenex, A&W drive-ins after a movie. Those were the days!

Once I’ve got watching other folks dance, I’m going to pop in my earbuds, crank up the iPod and make some turkey broth soup. The house will smell divine! I’ll dance myself into being even more happy and grateful to be alive.
