Thank you Dr. Evans – a media savvy Canadian physician. His video is clever and eminently watchable. Easy to understand. Excellent advice for everyone. In fact, our family Doc recommended this.

A Doctor-Professor answers the old question “What is the single best thing we can do for our health” in a completely new way.  Dr. Mike Evans is founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael’s Hospital.

I found out that he has another website called Evans Health Lab. The ‘whiteboard medical school’ website has some useful infographics on various health issues. They just started crowd sourcing funds for The Better Life Project through Indiegogo. The objective is to produce additional high quality videos and conduct more health promotion activities.

Watch the short promo on why they have trouble getting funding for non-silo health issues like how to make our kids more resilient, how to stay healthy as you age, etc. As we know, the Big Three – Cancer, Heart & Stroke, Diabetes – get all of the attention and the bulk of the cash.

There are so many worthy causes but I’m sure this one will gain some traction. There is so much dreck out there hopefully folks will support good production values and timely information from a genuine physician.  The fund-raising meter shows that they have pledges for over $700. The campaign started yesterday and runs until mid-November. Hopefully they can meet their $50,000 goal.
